Tanzania, Africa has its first NFC mobile payments system “Touch and Go” thanks to Etisalat, its subsidiary Zantel, MasterCard and Oberthur Technologies.
Thanks to Etisalat, Tanzania is the first NFC-enabled country in Africa, and joins the growing list of countries that have NFC mobile payments. Launched by Mobile Network Operator Etisalet , through its subsidiary company, Mobile payments company Zantel , the Touch and Go payment system brings NFC to the country’s residents via their mobile phones. It is uncertain which NFC phones the mobile network intends to offer at this time.
