Ticketfriend announces TicketMaster competing Social NFC ticketing app

Irish based company, Ticketfriend, has announced an Android powered NFC ticketing app that is set to challenge the dominance of TicketMaster for concert and sports events that adds social networking features.

The disruptive technology coming out of the Dublin based firm Ticketfriend is the first end-to-end (near field communications) NFC ticketing app to hit the market. The NFC ticketing app has the ability to manage every aspect of the ticket sale and admission process and adds a social element to the experience by allowing event attendees to connect with each other. With a mandate of reinventing the concert and sports venue experience with cashless ticketing and content delivery, the company seem well on track to achieve its goal. Ticketfriend has gone beyond anything else available on the market today and incorporates ticket purchasing, sharing with friends, admission via the NFC ticketing app, venue content delivery and includes an in-built loyalty program.

The Ticketfriend platform acts as a complete ecosystem and provides tools and resources for ticket venues and promoters to reach out and engage with event goers through the NFC ticketing app.  The Ticketfriend NFC ticketing app also provides an easy payments and loyalty platform for event ticketing and management.

“The best way to build sustainable revenue in events is to tap into customer loyalty, reduce cost and to provide more revenue options beyond the sale of the ticket. Using Ticketfriend, promoters can target event-goers with customized deals and, in return, consumers get convenient ticketing, event access, and ability to interact with other event goers though Ticketfriend’s integration with social media channels and tools,” said CEO, Liam Rabbit.

Ticketfriend may just loosen TicketMaster’s monopolizing grip on the industry and make buying tickets cheaper for consumers.

The key differentiator between Ticketfriend’s solution and what is available today is a single use application for promoters to organize, manage and deliver ticket sales, advertising and offers from within a social platform. ”The Ticketfriend solution makes the consumer experience easier, as well as cheaper than rival ticketing options,” said Rabbit.

The TicketFriend NFC app has been built for the Google Nexus S with in-built NFC and Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. However, with more NFC Android phones set to be released within the next few months, we can expect for Ticketfriend to be available for more phones. Its main threat is that it finds itself shut out by contracts that venues have with TicketMaster. We look forward to seeing how this NFC ticketing app does, esepecially in an industry that has been monopolized by one company for the last few years. A viable alternative that redefines and adds efficiency as well as cost savings could not only change the way we buy tickets, but could also lessen costs for consumers and add to the bottom line for promoters and venues.

The Ticketfriend service is being trialed with a number of promoters and is due to be rolled out for general release in Q3 of 2011, but those who are interested in signing up for the NFC ticketing app can register now over at Ticketfriend by clicking here.
