Samsung Hercules NFC phone caught on camera, arriving on Telus soon?

We have been wondering when and where the Samsung Hercules NFC phone would show. The trail had gone a little cold over the last few weeks and so it was time for one of those leaks that just happens to be picture perfect, to get us gadget lovers talking about the thought of holding a 4.5 inch power slate so anticipation can be built. The photo snapper who caught this shot is Ian Hardy over at MobileSyrup. And where would you think such a beast would choose to be caught on camera? Yup, Canada of course. Land of maple leaves, Tim Hortons and occasional sightings of mythical creatures and now a demigod embodied Android super NFC phone. We must find out where in Canada to go for sightings.

Samsung Hercules NFC phone rumored specifications

If the rumors are true, the Samsung Hercules NFC phone is as strong inside as its namesake and isn’t struggling in the looks department either. Reports differ on the processor speed – some say the Samsung Hercules rocks a dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 thinker, while more recent rumors suggest that the gods have passed on a little more speed and that the phone will slipstream with a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon speedster. The uncertainty with the processor that the Samsung Hercules will use is exactly the same rumor that we can’t get a clear picture on with the Google Nexus Prime. These two super NFC phones share a lot of the same specifications and we wouldn’t be surprised if they are not variations of the same phone in different skins with differing radios for different carriers here in the U.S. That would make it pretty different, actually.

Other impressive Samsung Hercules specs include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of flash storage and a 4.5 inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED Plus display. In fact, this reportedly boasts the same display as the Samsung Hercules cousin, the Infuse 4G, but we will be able to confirm that when we get a hands-on with the device. Camera wise the Samsung Hercules is said to have an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, MHL support and of course the might, mighty NFC chip baked straight in to its inner demigod physiology. Incidentally, the 4G radio housed within the Samsung Hercules is likely to be a category 24 HSDPA which theoretically is capable of a maximum speed of 42Mbps down. The Samsung Hercules also has the standard array of a microSD card slot, microUSB and other standard connectors you would expect on a NFC superphone of this caliber.

Could the Samsung Hercules NFC phone be heading for Telus?

The rumors suggest that this phone may be NFC phone heading to Telus. We’re not sure why Telus, other than the fact that the shot of the NFC phone sports a widget showing the Telus stock price. We suppose that’s as good as any logic, but find ourselves more intrigued by the appearance in the first place and asking does this mean the mighty Samsung Hercules NFC phone could launch a little earlier than the projected fall release date? Let’s hope the Samsung Hercules doesn’t turn into another Samsung Galaxy S II where we all have to wait for months and that the Google Nexus Prime follows it in short order. As soon as we hear any new news like pricing or release dates for the Samsung Hercules beast of an NFC phone, you’ll be the first to know.
