NFC marketing hits Australia with startup Tapit

A new NFC marketing service – Tapit Media Pty Ltd (Tapit) – has launched in Australia and brings NFC marketing abilities to advertisers and NFC engagement for consumers. If you’re a regular over here at NFC Rumors, you will know that we have a soft spot for marketing. We also love to let our readers know about the awesome potential that NFC brings to marketing products and services and adding a frictionless experience to engage consumers wherever they may be. NFC tags allow marketing campaigns to be tailored for specific demographics in specific locations and allows for sharing, permission based marketing, location based alerts and adds real metrics to campaigns that previously would have been slotted in the branding category of marketing. NFC smart posters are expected to be a massive growth area in the marketing industry allowing for a level of engagement on all marketing pieces in the real world that has not previously been available with the use of NFC phones. Yes, NFC marketing has a big future and will become ubiquitous in our homes and anywhere else we go within the next few years.

Tapit NFC marketing attracts angel investors at record speed

What Tapit really offers the market is a content delivery service that uses NFC. Marketing agencies and businesses still have control of their content, but Tapit facilitates the content delivery and analytics part of the process. Tapit only got into the NFC marketing business in March of this year. As a testament to how much interest NFC is attracting, Tapit closed its seed funding round in a record time – twenty-two days to be exact. That funding was provided by the Sydney Angels, who are an investment group who invest in Sydney startups.

Andrew Stead, Co-Founder of Sydney Angels, said, “Sydney Angels is focused on introducing quality deals to early stage investors. The Investment in Tapit was Sydney Angels tenth and fastest. The speed was testament to the opportunity and fit between the business and the investors. ” One of the Tapit Investors from Sydney Angels, Serial Entrepreneur David Cunningham shared, ”After 9 long months of seeking my next business venture in Sydney, Tapit Media stood out as an opportunity I just could not miss – in a sector that defines innovation and growth.”

In less than one month, Tapit has already launched three out-of-home NFC marketing campaigns, partnering with JC Decaux. Tapit’s first campaign was an Australian first when Universial McCann led an NFC marketing campaign with Tapit NFC for Nova Radio through the JCDecaux OOH (Out of Home) billboard network. Then Tapit worked with its partners at Channel 10 to build an NFC marketing campaign for the network’s new show “Renovators”. Tapit NFC provided them with the “perfect NFC Marketing solution for brand interaction on an impulse” according to the Tapit website. Lastly, Tapit is deploying NFC marketing campaigns in the QVB Shopping Center where Tapit NFC used a combination of NFC, QR Codes and SMS to enable instant content access to 100% of mobile phone owners entering the shopping mall.

Jamie Conyngham, the CEO of Tapit, said, “the speed in which this round was closed is an endorsement of the Tapit team and the business models we have created around our unique NFC enabled technology. Everyone we meet loves the idea of Tapit, it’s addictive”.
