Samsung Omnia W to have NFC and a 1.4GHz processor Windows Phone 7 rumor

This evening brings an NFC WP7 Rumor that could gain some traction because it has been suggested by SamFirmware that the upcoming Samsung Omnia W will feature NFC support, which was reported by WMPowerUser. SamFirmware has a good track record in Samsung rumors tweeted earlier today that the as yet unannounced Samsung Omnia W Windows Phone 7 smartphone is due to feature NFC, have a 3.7-inch display and skip along on a 1.4GHz processor. This revelation really does fall in to the realm of WP7 rumors and has not been confirmed as yet in anyway but it is in line with other whispers that have circulated about Samsung’s upcoming WP7 Mango smartphone.

This phone will not be regarded as a powerhouse by any description if earlier rumors are true. The Samsung Omnia W is rumored to have 512Mb of RAM and a 5-megapixel camera. Some of these specifications are hardly a reason to run out and dump your current phone, but the NFC and processor do add to the Samsung Omnia W’s allure. We had heard earlier that Nokia plans to feature NFC in its Windows Phone 7 smartphones and its starting to appear that Samsung is following suit. This certainly does add some credence to the rumor that Microsoft is in the process of building its own NFC mobile wallet.

Hardly a lot to go on at the moment, no carrier, no pricing, no release date apart from a vague maybe in October rumor and partial specifications. The model number of this phone is said to be the GT-i8350. We do have a photo of the rumored phone up top and below are the rumored NFC WP7 phones specifications again.

Well, if the Samsung Omnia W is an NFC phone we can bet other manufacturers will follow suit. Is the Samsung’s inclusion of NFC enough to get you to switch to Windows Phone 7 with the Mango update?
