Nokia 603 Symbian Belle NFC phone leaked

Images and specifications of the upcoming Nokia 603 Symbian Belle NFC phone have leaked. We now know before Symbian’s sad demise we will see at least another NFC phone hit the market. We also know the specifications of that phone thanks to information posted over at Symbian Tweet. The Nokia 603 NFC phone first hit the radar back at the end of August when it was seen winging its way through the FCC and then specifications were grabbed from a User Agent Header file. But until this last week, we hadn’t seen what the phone would actually look like.

Nokia has embraced NFC more than any other smartphone manufacturer but is yet to produce an NFC mobile wallet capable phone and as yet, we won’t have any details to suggest that the Nokia 603 will be any different. However, what the Nokia 603 does represent is a bigger market share for developers who want to write NFC apps for Symbian.

Obviously from our title you know that the new Nokia 603 is due to feature NFC and Symbian Belle and that cool six home screen setup we have seen in other NFC Nokia Symbian Belle handsets. The Nokia 603 is also sharing its processor with the 701 and 700 too, rocking a 1GHz ARM 11 CPU. Not too many details have emerged about the Nokia 603 display as yet other than it has a 360 x 640 resolution. The NFC phone’s shooter comes in the 5-megapixel EDoF flavor, which is probably a mid-range resolution these days. The Nokia 603 also has changeable covers in case you haven’t quite gotten over dressing your phone yet. A very interesting feature is that Nokia is including support for a Micro SIM, and where as that doesn’t mean that NFC SIMs will work with the phone, it also puts the Nokia 603 in a position where that is not necessarily precluded either.

Other Nokia 603 NFC phone features include the Nokia Browser 7.4, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA and WiFi in the normal flavors of b/g/n. From the images included you will see that the Nokia 603 doesn’t look too different to the Nokia 701 visually. The two tone colors and changeable skins tends to suggest that the phone will be aimed at a younger crowd. As yet we don’t know which countries will get the Nokia 603, how much it will cost or what carriers will sign up to sell it. What we do know is that Nokia World is just around the corner when Nokia is expected to become a Windows Phone only house and NFC phones that run on Symbian are expected to have been released by the time that happens. So, we expect to hear more about this phone very soon. We keep saying this every time Nokia releases a new NFC Symbian phone, but could the Nokia 603 be the last Symbian Belle NFC phone we will see from the Finnish company?
