It had to happen and now it has – we have had our first peek at the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone and the good news is that it will have NFC onboard from the get go. An anonymous tipster send the golden photograph over to the Phandroid team that supposedly shows a photograph of a presentation screen showing the Samsung Galaxy S III specifications and a few small images of the next iteration of this legendary family of phones. That image was supposedly shown to mobile network operators and large retail buyers. Before we all get too excited about this photograph, we should remember that this photograph was anonymously sent and has not been ratified in anyway. In fact, there are spelling mistakes all over the slide which may suggest it is not authentic. But without being able to confirm or deny this we suggest you take it with a pinch of salt until further details emerge. Okay, that’s the disclaimer and now feel free to get excited and imagine the Samsung Galaxy S III adorning your pocket. So, what are the Samsung Galaxy S III NFC phone specifications that have been leaked?
Alleged Samsung Galaxy S III NFC phone specifications
The big shocker is that it is going to be an Android device. That may not be a surprise at all. In fact, it is good to know that Samsung isn’t too upset with Google that it is switching everything to Windows Phone, and that we will continue to see hero Android NFC smartphones coming out of chateaux Samsung, which includes the Samsung Galaxy S III. That flavor of Android is rumored to be Ice Cream Sandwich and not Jelly Bean. We would have loved to have seen a quad-core Samsung Galaxy S III launching in 2012, but we will just have to make do with an industry leading dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor. The photograph also suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S III NFC phone could feature 2GB of RAM, which is doubling the amount of what we currently find in the Galaxy S II. If this image is real, the Samsung Galaxy S III will also feature NFC straight out of the gate in every iteration.
The camera is no slouch either featuring a W750 BSI CMOS sensor which packs 12 – count them -12 megapixels. The display is rumored to be a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display, which is 0.05 smaller than the rumored specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S III is moving away from its current look, which would make sense to move away from the Apple iPhone to prevent further lawsuits for the company. The display isn’t expected to feature the same curved glass that the Galaxy Nexus is reputed to feature.
We must say our Samsung Galaxy S III is too good to be true. Warning bells are going off on the strength of this leak. It all just seems a little perfect and the typos just don’t sit well with us. A 1.8GHz processor, a massive 4.5″ Super AMOLED Plus HD display and 2 GB of RAM feels to be like someone’s ideal wish list for the Samsung Galaxy S III. But what do you think? Are these the real specifications that we can expect to see on the Samsung Galaxy S III in 2012 or simply a hoax?
