Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE NFC phone to hits the States?

A welcome surprise just came about as the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE NFC phone through the FCC. This version of the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is a GSM phone, so we can pretty much guarantee that if it’s US bound it is heading to AT&T for their newly launched LTE network. Most of the details on the FCC label are unfortunately in Korean so we can’t grab too many details about this NFC phone. However, if NFC is onboard like it is with its Korean cousin, we then have the issue of AT&T disabling it at the software level as they did with the normal Samsung Galaxy S II.

Korean Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE NFC phone specifications

We may have very few details about the NFC phone that just winged its way through the FCC, but we do know the specifications of the Korean version which is likely to be very similar because they share a model name of SHV-E120L. The Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is not content with the paltry 4.5-inch display found on the T-Mobile version of the superphone. Samsung decided the Super AMOLED HD display needed a little je ne sais quoi and slapped on a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display that puts out gorgeous images and video at 316 ppi, or 1280 x 720 for all you lateral thinkers.

The Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE NFC phone also features the trusty 1.5GHz dual-core processor found in some US versions and comes loaded with 16GB of internal storage. Keeping to the GS2 mantra, it houses the same 8-megapixel shooter that will shoot 1080p HD video. Scooting along on Android 2.3, or Gingerbread as it’s called in the trenches, the phone obviously also supports near field communication through its built in NFC chipset. If this NFC phone does hit AT&T our question is does the new Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE challenge or beat the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and again give AT&T an edge over Verizon who so far have a poor choice in NFC phones?
