Motorola released a teaser website today showing company owned renders of the Motorola Droid RAZR, but there were no clues about NFC being on board. On Friday, Motorola announced a couple of NFC headsets and we speculated that because there are currently no Motorola NFC phones that the Motorola Droid RAZR could come endowed with some NFC love.
Like a few potential NFC phones that are about at the moment, the Motorola Droid RAZR has an identity problem, which isn’t uncommon in the rumors circles. The phone has been called the Spyder, Spyder HD RAZR and now we all seem to have settled on the Motorola Droid RAZR. Motorola has now shown off its teaser site that contains images of the phone, but we still only have a few specifications that BGR said they had received which include a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 4.3-inch display of unknown resolution.
Motorola Droid RAZR NFC phone or just another LTE phone?
However, based on the fact that the renders show four capacitive button the Motorola Droid RAZR may ship with Android Gingerbread and not Ice Cream Sandwich, but we would love to be proved wrong. Even if the Motorola Droid RAZR doesn’t ship with Ice Cream Sandwich, we are sure it will follow in short order, but the big unknown still hangs over whether the Motorola Droid RAZR will be an NFC hero smartphone.
We know it is heading to Verizon so even if the phone is NFC capable we can assume that there will be no Google Wallet fun to be had. But there is still plenty of things to with with an NFC phone before someone finds a root that allows Google Wallet to be added. We know a lot of smartphone fans will love the Motorola Droid RAZR whether it comes laden with NFC or not, but for NFC fans it would be a make or break feature and now that Motorola has teased us with the NFC headsets and videos. Let’s hope Motorola comes through on the feature that will future proof the handset for the next few months.
The Motorola Droid RAZR fund starts tomorrow at noon EST, so if there is NFC onboard you know you will hear it here, and in the meantime take a look at the images because she is looking svelte.
