Tapit NFC marketing firm wins Red Herring Award

Tapit NFC marketing firm wins “Top 100 tech up and coming company in Asia” Red Herring Award

Tapit, the NFC marketing firm from Australia, has battled its way through the Red Herring Awards to be named one of the “Top 100 Tech up and coming” companies in Asia. ”Tapit is a Red Herring 100 Asia Winner. So we are a top 100 tech up and coming company in Asia now,” Jamie Conyngham, CEO of Tapit told NFC Rumors.

The Red Herring Awards puts companies through a process which you can see below.

Red Herring Award selection process that Tapit successfully completed with its NFC marketing business model

Phase 1: Submission Review – 30%

In this step, the Red Herring judges eliminate companies based on viability of the business model, in terms of technology focus and innovation (or lack thereof) and grade the remaining companies.

Phase 2: Due Diligence – 40%

The due diligence phase is critical for companies to be able to make the short-list. It consists of a peer review where the judges reach out to experts (for example, the VC community or analysts from large investment and consulting firms) to discuss the viability of your business model and growth/revenue projections, the competitive landscape, and the big picture in your sector.

Phase 3 On-going: Live Presentation and Scoring (Hong Kong October 17-19) – 30%

The final stage is a live presentation in Hong Kong on October 18-19, at the Red Herring Asia event.  The short-list companies, or “Finalists”, are given the opportunity to make a live presentation.  This is done in front of a judge and is open to the entire forum membership.  Any attendee can join and view your presentation.  After the final presentation on October 19, all the scores are tallied and the Top 100 Winners announced at an award dinner.

This is great news for Tapit, and we at NFC Rumors would like to congratulate them. We will post more details as we get them, but this news is fresh and we don’t have all the details as yet. Tapit has closed deals for NFC marketing with JCDecaux and Clear Channel and it is hard to believe that the firm’s inception was only this year. Looking at the meta scale of the award, Tapit’s win is a win for the industry, because it shows that NFC is a viable business model. It also shows that the NFC marketing space is heating up, which we see on a daily basis here at NFC Rumors. Although, we will say that Tapit has grabbed more than their fair share of headlines, but then again that should be expected from an NFC marketing firm who are good enough to win a Red Herring Award.

Since 1996, technology industry executives, investors, and strategists have valued the Red Herring 100 lists as an instrument to seek the best tech innovations emerging from around the globe. Tapit is delighted the judging panel see the clear vision for certain success with Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile technology – in this case in the area of marketing and brand engagement.
