Could Sprint offer the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the near future? We are still waiting to find out which carriers are going to offer the NFC touting Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Until we get official word on mobile network operators, there is always a slew of circumstantial rumors and tenuous links to get us through. Today’s rumor, believe it or not, is regarding Sprint coming on board for the Galaxy Nexus launch party. Brief Mobile got a hold of an image that suggests a Sprint partner received a poster that mentions the Galaxy Nexus by its code name Nexus Prime on a packing slip.
Sprint would be an obvious choice as a partner for Google as they allow Google Wallet on their network. In fact, they are a launch partner of the aforementioned NFC mobile wallet. Sprint also gave the Nexus S 4G with NFC payments capabilities a home when other mean, terrible mobile network operators turned it away.
Galaxy Nexus + Sprint = Google Wallet – LTE
So, in that sense we wouldn’t be surprised to see the NFC Samsung Galaxy Nexus turn up on the “Now Network” straight from launch. If you sense doubt in our post, it’s because anyone who had the ability to snap a shot of the packing list would probably have had just as much opportunity to get an image of the poster itself if they were that intent on leaking this information.
If Sprint does get the Galaxy Nexus on its network straight away, we obviously won’t get any of the LTE treatment. That brings up another important question for consumers – so, is gaining Google Wallet worth the trade off? If you work for a Sprint partner store and have received a copy of the Galaxy Nexus poster in question and feel like getting it on the inter webs, please feel free to send it over on our tip us page and we can get this rumor confirmed.
