White NFC smartphones hitting in time for the holidays

A new fad of white NFC smartphones seems to be hitting for the holidays. Of course, all have taken cues from Apple’s white iPhone, but this new push on white smartphones seems to pick on NFC smartphones for reasons that escape us. Nevertheless, more choice is more choice and some of the white NFC phones that are about to be launched do look pretty nice.

T-Mobile white BlackBerry Bold 9900 NFC smartphones

We reported the other day that the white BlackBerry Bold 9900 would be hitting T-Mobile USA in the not too distant future based on the fact that the MNO sent out a catalogue with monthly bills that featured a white version of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 NFC smartphones. We have seen this white iteration of RIM’s flagship BlackBerry Bold range since the time we first heard the NFC smartphone was launching in the UK. Nearly six months later, it appears it is ready to be deployed and hopefully revitalize what analysts have called flat sales. The release of the OS 7.1 update and the BlackBerry Tag update should help that along nicely also.

AT&T white Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket NFC smartphones

AT&T, the MNO who likes to disable NFC on NFC smartphones, is rumored to be readying a white Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket version of the NFC smartphone. Images have been snagged by PocketNow, but no release date or pricing has followed. NFC at this time is turned off in the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and, so don’t buy it if you want an active NFC chip in your phone. If you don’t mind the service turned off for now and just want to know your new smartphone that comes with a two year contract has NFC in the future, it’s a great phone. The Samsung Galaxy S II line of phones are still some of the best NFC smartphones on the market. The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket has a bigger screen than its older cousin and features a 1.5GHz processor too. However, the biggest specification change is that it is an LTE compatible phone. Of course, they could be better if AT&T enabled the NFC chip. AT&T, it’s no threat to your power hungry Isis project to allow people to scan NFC tags and swap contacts!

T-Mobile white Samsung Galaxy S II NFC smartphones

Not to be outdone by AT&T, T-Mobile are launching a white version of the Samsung Galaxy S II NFC smartphone too. T-Mobile’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S II always had a bigger screen and better processor than AT&T’s normal version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. To T-Mobile’s credit they have left NFC enabled in their phones aside from some BlackBerry NFC smartphones that weren’t really capable of reading anything anyway because of half baked software support for NFC in the early days. T-Mobile is also a member of Isis, but doesn’t appear to fear NFC like AT&T does. Word on the street says that AT&T is scared of the extra data you may consume because of NFC. T-Mobile, on the other hand, is enabling handsets and therefore allowing consumers to get a taste of NFC goodness. The white Samsung Galaxy S II NFC smartphone is said to be hitting the market “in the coming weeks.”

So, there you have it a trio of white NFC smartphones coming to you around the holidays if everything goes well from T-mobile with the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Samsung Galaxy S II in white and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket on AT&T.
