Google Wallet on Verizon Galaxy Nexus root free so it is safe to use!
Over the weekend we let you know the clever devs over at XDA Developers had rooted and hacked Google Wallet on to the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. We also advised that Galaxy Nexus owners should hold off from hacking the Verizon Galaxy Nexus because rooting the device could expose some sensitive data that a thief could get hold of. Just a day later and XDA Developers has released a version of the Google Wallet APK that doesn’t require rooting the device, and so you can now install the NFC mobile wallet safely!

Expansys has the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus up for pre-order $750
Expansys has the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus NFC smartphone up for pre-order. So, if you are loving the thought of the Galaxy Nexus in your pocket, but need a GSM version that will work with AT&T or T-Mobile and you now don’t have to wait until Verizon’s exclusive comes to an end if you are willing to pony up $749.99. We don’t know when those pre-orders will be fulfilled as yet (and we think you must be hardcore to spend that much on an NFC smartphone), but Expansys will take your order if you want to be among the first to own a Galaxy Nexus GSM version in the States.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus NFC phone launch date
If you have been waiting for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus NFC phone to launch, we can confirm that you won’t be waiting much longer. Our sources have let us know that consumers will be able to pick up a Verizon Galaxy Nexus NFC smartphone on November 21st at their local Verizon store.
From what we are hearing NFC services will be available but don’t expect to see Google Wallet or any other form of payments available on the phone. Word is that Isis is way behind on its deployments and Verizon has been locked into a legal stranglehold where it cannot bring any other NFC mobile wallet on board other than services that are to be offered by Isis. It appears that Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile may not be feeling so hot to trot with the deal they signed with Isis after all.

Verizon will carry the Galaxy Nexus and NFC is to be enabled
It’s official, Verizon will be carrying the Galaxy Nexus and NFC will be enabled, according to the press release coming out of Big Red this evening. We don’t have a date or pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as yet and we have no clue whether Google Wallet will be available for consumers. But if you have been waiting to know whether the new leader of the pack in NFC super phones was going to hit an LTE network in your neck of the woods tonight, you can rest a little easier.
Verizon will carry the Galaxy Nexus and even if it has NFC enabled, it is likely that there will be no Google Wallet
The information sent out by Verizon names Google services that will be available on the Galaxy Nexus including “Android Market, Gmail™, Google Maps™ 5.0 with 3D maps, Google Earth™, Movie Studio, YouTube™, syncing with Google Calendar™ and a redesigned Google＋ app.” Guess what’s missing? Yep, no Google Wallet.

We learned a lot about the Android Beam, Face Unlock and features of the Galaxy Nexus but there were a lot of questions that people are eager to know about left unanswered. Let’s start with our favorite subject – NFC on the Galaxy Nexus.
Unanswered NFC questions about the Galaxy Nexus which is an NFC phone
First thing’s first, we didn’t find out whether the phone will ship with NFC turned on for all mobile network operators. We know that many have been blocking NFC because they fear the extra data that will be used by consumers. We exclusively learned that the reason that AT&T had the NFC turned of in the Samsung Galaxy S II was for this very reason. Will the Galaxy Nexus meet the same fate?

We are going to have to wait longer for the NFC Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Samsung and Google have announced that they need to put back their announcement that was widely considered to launch the Samsung Galaxy Nexus NFC phone and Ice Cream Sandwich. We, like many of our readers, were very excited to see the Samsung Galaxy Nexus details tomorrow, but Google and Samsung have decided that it is not the appropriate time to make the announcement. We are not sure whether that refers to Steve Jobs passing away or a reason that is yet unclear.
